What do you IT bloggers do with time outside the little box?

So, guys.. What do you do on your spare time when you are not attached to your screens? What interest you? What are your hobbies?

IT life style is definitely unique. It is different that Engineers, Doctors, or any other profession's life style..

I, myself, like reading, hunting, watching sports such as basketball, and football... Baseball and golf are freaking boring..

I am not a good planner.. I do not plan for an event.. I just do it..And when I get with nerds like me, I can not help but talking about the IT industry.. It is a bad habit.. Do you do the same? Come on, be honest..

It is your turn.. Tell me what you like for fun and how often do you do it?

Well, I'm not in the IT business, but I thought I'd come by and visit your site as a return to normalcy from Sharikou's blog (which I solely visit to see how someone can take a small bit of information and twist it into something crazy).

I own my own small company which has nothing to do with IT thankfully. But I've always loved computers and what I've been able to do with them over the years. I have however been employed in the past to do various IT things professionally and went through a lot of school to get a degree in computer science, which I regret because it never made any difference in my life.

I'm a big introvert. I don't like being around people. They drain the life out of me, even my spouse, whom I love dearly and enjoy being with tends to wear me down. So when I have free time, I like to get by myself in order to recharge.

My big thing is driving. I love driving. I regularily make a ten hour drive, and when I'm on the bleak and boring drive my mind races. It's like a LSD rush.

I also enjoy psychology, hence Sharikou's blog. People's bias makes them do crazy things. I've never seen a collection of people who cling to a company (or ideal) so hard and fight tooth and nail for it. If they had that sort of passion for their own affairs they could assuredly make a lot of dinero.

So, those are some of the things I enjoy. Oh yeah, sacrificing chickens is fun too. But I won't get into that right now, hah.

Hmm....I mostly spend my time looking for Freelance Jobs, writing some Perl, listening to Tupac or writing Poetry. The computer is a devilish place that sucks you in, but I find that when I am away from one, I can't help but feel it's beckoning me back, heh....requiring me to keep up-to-date on current events, especially politics and computers.

Can we keep the "Intel sux, AMD sux" comments out of this? Show some respect.

Heh, yeah, I hear you Mike. If I didn't have my PC I'd feel lost. I don't care much for TV, even the news tends to be biased, although I'm in Canada and suspect it's a little less corrupt here.

The PC is my lifeline to the world. I sit in front of it all day for work, then spend a few more hours in my spare time at it just for fun.

I wish I had time for games these days though (used to be a big PC gamer, right from the Vic 20's) but now the PC is an enlightening tool.

Dan,

Driving is awsome but I like driving long distances.. stop in rest stops and dine in cities I have never been to..

Travel is my thing.. That is by car!

I am also a computer enthusiast and love technology.. Love underdogs winning but hate arrogance.. Arrogance turns me off .. Extreme BIAS is OK but using in argument normally is a waste of time..

Love reading.. No love stories, though..

Is it me or TV is becoming more boring by the Day

Ain't that the truth.. I try to have a normal life but my brain is addicted to the computer!

I agree that Sharikou sometimes takes it too far.. and it is hurting his credibility.. I think he is a nice guy who just loves AMD and can not accept anything else.. I guess that is ok but people get tired of it at some point..

But hey,, it is a free country and internet and anybody could do it.. so far

I have much respect for Sharikou, he knows alot about what he is talking about and when he writes, it is with force and attitude. I do agree that Sharikou, at times, can be too forceful or aggressive for some readers, but believe me, that is a good thing.

Alot of people call Sharikou biased, and rightfully so. Sharikou, regardless of how biased he is, always represents facts and brings evidence to the table, something alot of people who flaim him are incapable of doing so on their own. I do not mean to belittle anybody specific, but just to mention that people like Sharikou are in a league of their own. I say that in the sense meaning they write with inviction on topics and in the only manner they know how.

When I write personal articles, I can tend to be very aggressive and sometimes oppressive, but I make sure my belief and stance on the topic is known by bringing facts and evidence to the mix.

PS: Great blog btw, hopefully this can grow and we can have a great place to chat w/o dealing with insults.
